The Harmonic Studies series started as the result of a request to participate in an exhibition ("Art for Rosie") at the Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh, to raise funds for the grand-daughter of a colleague, who lost her father in a road accident.
Busy working on a couple of large pieces for the RSA (Oxford Suite No2 & No3); I had little time, but I found a calender of landscape photographs, so I decided to paint on top of them.
At first the intention was to leave a lot of the landscapes showing through to create a dialogue between them; however I kept adding more and more colour, that resulted in little photographic image remaining visible.
