Studies 2003 - 2010
Aberdeen, Edinburgh & Northampton
Various studies, some for the Oxford Suite and some as studies for developing my colour/music language. |
This piece was done in 2003 and shows the beginning of the work which eventually came to fruition with the Oxford Suite. It should be seen as a single element which would be part of a larger composition; in essence it is a single chord. |

These are the same 6 canvases in two different arrangements the first was horizontal but I tried it vertically and I think I prefer them like that. In the horizontal configuration the blue and yellow contrasting lines at either end were to give a secondary speed to it - to give a "fast return". The Vertical arrangement still has a movement that I want but because it is not hindered by the left to right bias of our perception (because of how we read books) then the movement flows more easily up and down and back up again. |
